The Messiah

Georg Friedrich Händel (1685–1759) was, in fact, a man of the theater. The most famous composer of his time, he composed over 40 operas and staged them in London with his own troupe. It was not until later in life that the Englishman by adoption turned his attention to the oratorio: His "Messiah" became world-famous and is today one of the most frequently performed classical music works of all time.

On Saturday, May 9, 2026, the masterpiece “The Messiah” will be performed at Berlin Cathedral. With baroque timpani and trumpets, enchanting arias, and festive choral movements, the Berlin Cathedral Choir will bring Handel’s work to life, including the famous “Hallelujah,” to which audiences in England still rise solemnly to this day. Whether standing or seated: You are most welcome!
