Hire rooms

With its central location on Museum Island in the heart of the capital, Berlin Cathedral is an ideal venue. The Sermon Church (Predigtkirche), the Baptismal and Matrimonial Church (Tauf- und Traukirche) and our separately accessible halls in the Cathedral's towers can be hired for concerts and conferences, as well as private and business celebrations.

Our professional concert and event management team are happy to advise and accompany you during the organisation and realisation of your day, as well as with ticketing. Even the available products from the Cathedral's marketing and public relations work, as well as the building services are available to you as needed.

Sermon Church (Predigtkirche)

The impressive fixtures and fittings of Berlin Cathedral, its acoustics and its enormous ‘Sauer’ organ offer an exceptional format for any event. Approximately 100 classical or modern concerts, readings and performances – some of which include dance – take place here every year at an very sophisticated level. Together with the city’s three opera houses, the Philharmonie and the Konzerthaus, the Cathedral is considered one of the top musical addresses to visit. With all the galleries and boxes combined, the building boasts almost 1,400 seats.

Baptismal and Matrimonial Church (Tauf- und Traukirche)

The Baptismal and Matrimonial Church (Tauf- und Traukirche) is located directly next to the Sermon Church (Predigtkirche), and is particularly suitable for small-scale events such as chamber concerts, receptions, previews or lectures. With seating in place, there is enough space for a maximum of 100 visitors.

Imperial Staircase

The Imperial Staircase is considered one of the most extraordinary venues in Berlin Cathedral. The upper landing provides space for approximately 40 people. You can also combine an event involving the Imperial Staircase with the adjoining Imperial Hall or Imperial Gallery.

Imperial Hall

The Imperial Hall leads from the Imperial Staircase to the Imperial Gallery. This space is characterised by a festive cosiness thanks to the dark wood panelling, the cross vault and the delicate murals. A long, set table can accommodate a maximum of 50 people. The Imperial Hall is well-suited for events that begin, for example, at the Imperial Staircase with a standing reception, from where you would like to offer your guests a wonderful meal in a great atmosphere.

Imperial Gallery

Today, your guests could indeed be seated where the Emperor once sat with his royal household. The Imperial Gallery forms part of the interior of Berlin Cathedral, but is not publicly accessible to tourists. In view of the heritage-protected seating, this section of the Cathedral is particularly suitable for an organ concert with an exclusive area that holds a maximum of 80 people. Smaller scale lectures can also be held here, which form part of a larger event, e.g. in combination with food being served in the Imperial Hall or the Sophie-Charlotte-Saal.

Sophie-Charlotte-Saal

A celebration or an event held in the Sophie-Charlotte-Saal at Berlin Cathedral is always something special, simply because of the atmosphere that thrives in this 11 metres high room with a gallery. Through the large hall windows, guests can enjoy a spectacular view of the ‘Lustgarten’ Park, Museum Island and the river Spree. Regardless of whether it is a private wedding ceremony, a lecture or an international conference – the room is the perfect place for various event formats. The Hall includes a foyer, a kitchen and separate toilet facilities.

Depending on your needs, the Sophie-Charlotte-Saal can be hired with or without seating. 120 people can be seated in the hall; without seating a maximum of 250 people can be accommodated (including foyer). If required, the hall can be booked together with the adjacent, and slightly smaller Luise-Henriette-Saal. A professional sound system and projector are available for use during your event.

The Sophie-Charlotte-Saal is located in the north western tower of Berlin Cathedral, directly below the bells.

Luise-Henriette-Saal

The slightly smaller Luise-Henriette-Saal is situated directly next to the Sophie-Charlotte-Saal. Both halls are connected with one another via the foyer. A folding partition allows the Luise-Henriette-Saal to be subdivided into two smaller rooms. It is also suitable for private parties, meetings and conferences hosting smaller groups of up to 50 people.

Wedding services at the Cathedral

Berlin Cathedral is a place where many people wish to get married, given its special atmosphere. It's not just members of the Cathedral parish who can celebrate a baptism at Berlin Cathedral, but all couples when at least one person is of a Protestant denomination. Either the large Sermon Church (Predigtkirche) or the smaller Baptismal And Matrimonial Church (Tauf- und Traukirche) (maximum 80 people) are made available. Dates can be agreed in coordination with the parish office.

Prices

All prices for the above venues at Berlin Cathedral are available on request. These are determined by the type and scope of the planned event.
