Symphonic Prelude!

On July, 3 at 8 pm, cathedral organist Andreas Sieling will open the 21st International Organ Summer. His ‘Symphonic Prelude!’ will feature the moving Second Symphony by the Parisian organist Louis Vierne, comprising five movements. It is the composer’s first symphony and is closely associated with the organ at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris.

Following its world premiere in 1903, Claude Debussy praised the work to the skies in a review: “The highest musicality is combined here with ingenious inventiveness […]. The great J. S. Bach, the father of us all, would have been pleased with Mr Vierne.”

Since 2005, OPUS KLASSIK award winner Andreas Sieling has served as cathedral organist on the great Sauer organ at Berlin Cathedral. Numerous concert tours have taken him to almost every European country, as well as to the USA, Canada and Russia (prior to 2022). He also regularly takes part in CD, radio and film recordings, as well as numerous television broadcasts.
