Rendezvous with Bach und Messiaen!

In his concert on 17 July, Yoann Tardivel, Professor of Organ at the University of Toulouse, will combine works from the third part of Bach’s *Clavierübung* with pieces from the *Livre du Saint Sacrement*, Olivier Messiaen’s greatest organ work. The evening begins and ends with an invocation to God: the large-scale organ motet ‘Kyrie, Gott, Heiliger Geist’ and Bach’s Triple Fugue in E flat major. Messiaen’s work was composed in 1984. It comprises 18 movements and lasts almost two hours. In terms of form and style, it can be regarded as a synthesis of the compositional techniques Messiaen developed over decades.

Yoann Tardivel is at home in several areas of music as a concert organist, radio presenter, writer and professor of organ at the Conservatoire in Toulouse. He trained in Paris, Copenhagen and Brussels; his most important teachers were Michel Bouvard, François Henri Houbart and Olivier Latry.
