The Bärbel Vasak Foundation was created in memory of Bärbel Vasak and her love of church music. Bärbel Vasak was a member of the Cathedral parish until her death in 2010. The legally dependent foundation was created on Reformation Day 2011 by Bärbel Vasak's long-time partner. The donor wishes to remain anonymous.

The Bärbel Vasak Foundation (Bärbel Vasak Stiftung) promotes the ecclesiastical music during the services held at Berlin Cathedral. Responsibility and organisation are left exclusively in the hands of the respective Cathedral organist. The fiduciary administration of the Bärbel Vasak Foundation (‘Bärbel Vasak Stiftung’) is managed by the Berlin Cathedral Foundation (‘Berliner-Dom-Stiftung’).

The foundation has a capital base of €100,000. Donations are welcome at any time.
