Berlin Cathedral Construction Association (Berliner Dombau-Verein e.V.)

Berlin Cathedral Construction Association (Berliner Dombau-Verein e.V.)

The Berlin Cathedral Construction Association (Berliner Dombau-Verein e.V.) was founded in 1994, one year after the re-inauguration of Berlin Cathedral. At that point in time the building was still under construction in part. For example, the dome mosaics were missing. The purpose of establishing an association was therefore to assist the restoration work and to participate in preserving Berlin Cathedral going forward.

The members of the Berlin Cathedral Construction Association (‘Dombau-Verein’) primarily originate from Berlin, but also come from other federal states and from abroad.

To date, the Berlin Cathedral Construction Association (‘Berliner Dombau-Verein’) has, for example, funded the reconstruction of the altar windows and dome mosaics. It also supported the re-establishment of the Cathedral museum, in which the history of the Cathedral’s construction is well documented. The Association is currently collecting donations for the reconstruction of a large plaster model.
