Pastor Petra Zimmermann

Beginning as a pastor at the Protestant Church of Westphalia, she was active in the church administration of the EKD (Protestant Church of Germany) in Hanover from 1991 until 1996, where she conducted the Protestant Church’s extensive research, “Fremde Heimat Kirche” (“Distant Home Church”), examining church affiliation and religious attitudes in East and West Germany. Petra Zimmermann then transferred to the University of Hamburg, where she taught Homiletics and Pastoral Care at the Institute for Practical Theology, and worked on a research project concerning religious services for Totensonntag (the last Sunday before Advent, on which the dead are commemorated).
In 2002, she went to the Protestant Parish Church St. Reinoldi and was active there as Parish Church Pastor.
Cathedral Preacher Zimmermann is active in the Council of Spokespersons of the International Conference of Parish Churches, and she is in the executive board of the Liturgical Conference.
